Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G Review

Category: Cell Phones - Date: June 9, 2012 - Discussion: Comments

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G is definitely one of the most talked-about Android Phones almost everywhere right now, and for good reason. For one, it’s running the most up-to-date version of Google’s Android OS, and was the first smartphone to do so. However, being a CDMA-only device, only certain carriers like Verizon Wireless in the United States carry it. If that’s not a problem, this is surely a phone you’ll want to check out for yourself.

Hardware

Inside every Galaxy Nexus 4G device is a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, a micro USB port, a 4.65-inch high definition Super AMOLED touch screen with multitouch support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 support, GPS navigation, a 5 MP camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, and so much more. On top of all this really high-end hardware, the fact that it runs Android 4.0 (a.k.a. “Ice Cream Sandwich”) adds a plethora of other features that are not available to users of older Android OS version, such as Face Unlock and home screen folders.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G is also a very nicely designed phone, complete with a touch screen (and keys) covering almost the entire front, as well as other standard keys along the sides. It’s nice and slim and feels a lot more natural in one’s hand(s) than most other smartphones.

Size

It comes in at only 5.33 x 2.67 x 0.37 inches and is even pretty light for all of its great hardware, weighing only 5.29 ounces. The Galaxy Nexus 4G is almost the perfect size for a smartphone.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus 4G runs off an 1850 mAh lithium-ion battery that allows for up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 150 hours or 6.25 days of standby time, which is fairly good for a 4G LTE device.

Conclusion

For most Android fans, this phone is a must-own for everything that it has. This is the biggest competitor to Apple’s iPhone 4S from the Android side, so if you really want an alternative to the iPhone this should be your choice. Having some great features that even the iPhone lacks (like 4G, at least for now until the next refresh comes around), this is a true high-end Android-powered smartphone.
