Eton has used its solar power expertise to create an iPhone case with a solar panel. This case they’ve called Mobius will double your iPhone’s battery life with its built in battery but it will also help power up your phone when you expose it to sunlight.

I can see this product being useful to those who are going hiking or camping and will be away from any electricity. You might not be able to get a signal to make a call or go online, but you can use useful apps that don’t require an internet connection like the compass or the flash to provide you light at night.

What do you use your phone for? No doubt you spend some of the time making phone calls, after all that is the general purpose of a mobile phone. But if you own one of the latest smartphones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S, the Nokia N8 or the iPhone 4, then it is very likely that using it to make calls is not at the top of your priority list.

According to recent research, the amount of time that we use our phones for making calls is on the decline, and rapidly so. Last year mobile phone uses averaged 20 minutes a day making phone calls and now, just one year later, that has decreased to an average of just 10 minutes a day.

HTC Evo Shift 4G Phone

Here’s some information on the HTC EVO Shift. First released in January 2011, this smartphone is powered by Android’s software and is to be used for Sprint’s 4G network. Here are some basic specs on this phone.

  • It comes with Android version: 2.2 (also known as Froyo) with one touch access to Google services like search, voice maps, streetview, gtalk, youtube and picasa. Plus you can access thousands of apps available in the Android market. As I’m sure you’re aware, Android powered browsers support websites with Adobe flash, unlike the iPhone.
  • One feature I enjoyed was their “mobile hotspot functionality” as they call it, which means that you can use any other wifi enabled device like a laptop to share the Sprint 4G connection while on the go. This is especially useful to use while traveling. If 4G is not available in the area you’ll be on 3G.

As with every new version of a popular phone or gadget, customers expect there to be improvements made not just to the look and feel of the product, but also to the main features that make the product special. This is very much the case with mobile phones, and the new Blackberry Torch is no exception; with Research in Motion making use of the time since the Blackberry Storm to analyze and improve the technology for their latest effort. One thing that has had seen a whole raft of improvements is the Blackberry’s already impressive web browser.

The first difference in the browser for the new handset is with the start page. Blackberry is aware that the average internet browser on a mobile phone is not like it is on a desktop computer, which can be extremely long and less frequent. A phone user will usually browse more but their time online will be shorter and more specific.
