NEC intros 19-inch EA191M, 24-inch EA241WM LCD monitors

Filed under:

NEC's already bolstered its EA series of LCD monitors with two frog-ladden models, but it looks like it's not stopping there, with it now also introducing the new 24-inch EA241WM and 19-inch EA191M models to complement its existing, 22- and 26-inch LCDs. The former of those boasts a PVA panel and the same 1,920 x 1,200 resolution as its larger counterpart, along with the usual 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a 400cd/m2 brightness rating, DVI and VGA ports (but no HDMI), a four-port USB hub, and some apparently discreet built-in speakers. The 19-incher, on the other hand, opts for a standard aspect ratio and a 1,280 x 1,024 resolution, but boosts the contrast ratio to 1,500:1 and knocks the brightness down to 250cd/m2. Look for both of 'em to land later this month, with the EA241WM running $549 and the EA191M setting you back $379.

New DS To Be Announced Tomorrow?

New DS To Be Announced Tomorrow?

As much as I don't believe it, it seems as though Nintendo will be announcing a new updated DS at a press conference tomorrow morning in Japan - that's just a few hours away from now. Sources have pointed to Nintendo bigwig Satoru Iwata to make the announcement, although very little else is known about what this supposed revised DS will offer other than MP3 playback and a built-in camera as mentioned earlier. Would you purchase a revamped DS Lite, or would you wait until the next generation hits the streets?

Sonoro Audio Aims For The Well Heeled

Sonoro Audio Aims For The Well Heeled

Sonoro Audio from Germany will be rolling out a new clock radio that comes set with approximately 4,000 black and white Swarovski crystallized stones, drastically increasing its price by manifold compared to a vanilla model. It will set you back by a whopping $2,500 if you want to bring this Sonoro Audio offering home, but I don't think any average sane person would drop such serious coin on this, although the same cannot be said for erratic millionaires.

Solar Prometeo Wearable Concept

Solar Prometeo Wearable Concept

Green is the new pink, so it is not surprising to see more and more environmentally-conscious devices hit the market, not to mention concepts as well. The Solar Prometeo falls into the latter category and is meant to be worn on the outside. Photovoltaic cells on the face of the device will harness the power of solar energy, turning it into electricity which can be used later on to juice up your exhausted (and connected) gadgets and gizmos, thanks to a couple of USB ports. The lamp in the hub itself will alert you whenever its internal battery is drained, requiring you to juice this up under bright sunlight once again.

Keepin’ it real fake, part CXLII: Sony Ericsson’s T700 gets a twin (sans Ericsson)

Filed under:

We've always wondered when we'd see a KIRF that was actually more desirable than the original, and while this ripped T700 isn't quite as succulent at SE's own T700, it's closer than most... on the outside. This touchscreen-based cellphone (which is obviously masquerading as a camera) supposedly sports a Carl Zeiss lens, a 5x optical zoom (seriously?), 8-megapixel sensor, a microSD slot and easily one of the nastiest user interfaces we've ever had the displeasure of laying eyes on. Hit the read link if you're into that type of sick stuff , and jump on past the break for a front side shot.

SanDisk Offer 16GB Of Portable Storage Goodness

SanDisk Offer 16GB Of Portable Storage Goodness

SanDisk will be rolling out the largest removable storage capacity for cell phones later this month in the form of the 16GB microSDHC as well as Memory Stick Micro (M2) variants. Both models will definitely be welcome, as many portable devices these days are more than capable of playing both movie and audio files, so the added capacity will be a boon to those who don't want to keep on transferring data between the computer and a memory card due to space constraint. The 16GB microSDHC memory card will retail for $99.99 while the M2 is slightly more expensive at $129.99.

BlackBerry Terminator - Wish It Was Real

BlackBerry Terminator - Wish It Was Real

One look at the BlackBerry Terminator and you'll know that this is a fake device, but then again, I am pretty sure you hope it will be a real device deep down inside, right? By day, this phone functions as an all-round business handset, but when nobody's looking, it will transform into what looks like an AT-ST walker. April Fool's Day is still a long way off, but this is a pleasant distraction to help you move away from the monotony of a regular work week. Surely this is one of the concepts that I would like to see realized.

KDDI Parades 3.1-inch OLED Display

KDDI Parades 3.1-inch OLED Display

CEATEC is the platform for KDDI to display the Samsung-made 3.1" OLED display that is capable of displaying images of up to 800 x 480 resolution, making it suitable to support DVD resolution video without the negative impact of shedding pixels, giving you near print-quality text. This display is currently a prototype, so it would be nice to see them hit a manufacturing stride sooner rather than later. Cell phones as well as other portable devices will never be the same again with this new OLED display technology, that's for sure.

LaCie 700 Series Displays Unveiled

LaCie 700 Series Displays Unveiled

LaCie is no stranger to the display market, and have released its 700 Series that were specially designed for applications requiring color accuracy. The three models in question are the 720, 724, and 730, where they will come in 20", 24" and 30" screen sizes, respectively. All of them will feature RGB-LED backlighting technology that enables ultra-wide color gamuts up to 123% of the Adobe RGB space with the 724 and 730. The inclusion of ColorKeeper stabilization technology also helps make constant adjustments as and when required after analyzing the brightness and chromaticity of the backlight. All these displays from LaCie won't come cheap though, as the LaCie 720, 724, and 730 are going for $2,000, $3,000, and $5800, respectively.

Steampunk Phone Concept Just Too Cool

Steampunk Phone Concept Just Too Cool

Steampunk fans will definitely sit up and take notice of this Steampunk Phone, courtesy of Londoner Arthur Schmitt. You won't find the latest and the greatest in here, which means a lack of touch screen functionality, no games to keep you occupied between buses and definitely no buttons to press! Instead, it will come with an earpiece, gauges, visible screws, and a spinning number-counter, all encased in a rugged brown scheme. In order to make calls, you will need to use punch cards and binary phone numbers - talk about old school!
