Amazon Prime has been an absolute time saver over the past six months. In the past I would weigh the monetary and time costs of shipping verses just going to the store and buying. Also, Christmas shopping could take days and time away from work or family. With Amazon Prime I now do most of my shopping and get free 2 day shipping (which can be upgraded to 1 day shipping for $3.99). I was able to do the majority of my Christmas shopping late night so I didn't have to interfere with work or family time.
As a subscriber of Amazon Prime I highly recommend it as your $79 will be saved in one Christmas season alone.
Also, I just ordered a microphone for use on my Video iPod which I need before I leave for CES on Friday. This order alone would've cost over $20 of shipping to upgrade to 2 day (which is free through Prime).

The last gadget "the Geeks" picked for helping to become fit is Sharper Image's Glass Scale and Body Fat Monitor. The popular Glass Scale has been improved with the ability to estimate body-fat percentage of the total weight using accurate (semi-accurate) bioelelectic impedance analysis.
The scale has an internal computer with body-composition analyzer to store data for up to 10 users.
Finally, the scale looks quite chic with the large blue backlit LCD providing easy-to-see digital weight readout plus the proportion of water and body fat. This scale is much more about becoming fit than simply watching your weight.

Most fitness buffs find that exercising outdoors provides the change of scenery necessary to keep the workout interesting. But without modern exercise equipment like treadmills, stationary bikes or elliptical trainers, it can be difficult to determine exact distance, pace, and heart rate throughout an exercise session. Push yourself to your personal best with the Forerunner 305 GPS Personal Trainer, which continuously monitors your heart rate, speed, distance, pace and calories burned so you can train smarter and more effectively. With its built-in high-sensitivity GPS receiver, the waterproof Forerunner 305 Personal Trainer tracks your every move and comes with software to provide a detailed post-workout analysis on your PC.

La Lampe Paul is from a wonderful French site I discovered, illico Design, which offers "French Living Accessories." Using creative designs and practical technology, they've transformed some of the basic home necessities into art pieces.
Take this lamp, which diffuses a soft light through the tarlatane. You simply nail it to your wall, wherever you want. And it comes with 3 interchangeable color covers so you you can dress the room according to your mood. Designed by Anne Monnier, an up and coming young designer, each kit includes one lamp with a white cover and 2 additional covers (either turquoise/apple or eggplant/tomato).
$48 at illico Design.

This one is a good example of how a geeky, boring device can be turned into something cool and desirable. All it required was computer storage firm LaCie and French designer Ora Ito to join hands to redefine the design of the ubiquitous USB hub. The octopus-like LaCie USB & FireWire Hub will surely make heads turn when it's released in early 2007. Done up completely in pristine white, it sprouts eight flexible cables - 4 USB 2.0 cables, 2 FireWire 400 cables, a USB light and a USB fan. The hub features eight glowing LEDs that light up in different colors to show which connection is currently active.
Compatible with both the PC and Mac, this one surely tops my shopping list for next year. Available on pre-order for $79.99.

What a nice bowl to place your fruit and stuff in. I don’t quite see why this guy has such a weird face, but I defenetly like the idea of this bowl. There is only one problem: $298.00 is kinda heavy. The bowl man is made out of pewter, measures 10″ x 3.9 x 6.3″ and weighs 39.2 oz. It is actually up for sale on the Carrol Boyes US site. Check it out! (via stylehive)

The Guardian is reporting on a new building in Dubai which relies on the iPod design. The 23-storey building will open 2009 and host about 200 homes and offices. It features a 6° angle and is based on something like a dock. The iPad called building is being developped by Omniyat Properties, which is targeting high tech and upper class markets. Let’s hope for them that in 10 years, the iPod is still as common as today, otherwise the company is going to have a problem explaining this shape to new lodgers

What a wonderful idea: the Typo Tape is a $2 tape with some text on it. The text is full of mistakes and typos, therefore the name Typo Tape. What is this for, you might ask? We also asked this and found out: decorate your your pictures and albums, have fun while wrapping gifts, go tape happy during the holidays or add style to your scrapbook. Okay, I’m convinced (not by the arguments though, but $2? Hell yeah!). Find it and buy it on designtown.com.
