miJam Drummer

First thing parents are wondering... yes, the miJam Drummer drumsticks have a headphone jack! Ok, moving on to what "the kids" care about... the drumsticks allow you to plug-and-play with your iPod by stiking your little brother or other imaginary instruments to generate dummer sounds including snare, bass, tom-tom, high-hat and cymbals.

The gizmo includes a clip-on module that has controls for rhythm, tempo and volume as well as the all important headphone jack.

This is a twist on a remote-control car... this vehicle has a pair of screws that rotate thrusting the car forward. Because the car uses the screws instead of wheels with limited traction, this is an all-terrain vehicle allowing the driver to run across water, snow, sand and your tradional solid surfaces. Sony VGNTX007C - Spy Gear

draft_959_big.jpg

You'd think that there would have been a cross-branding strategy involving an electronics manufacturer attempting to cash in on the appeal of James Bond before now. Nothing comes to mind, which makes this Sony VGNTX007C Limited Edition Spy Gear set all the more fetching (if not actually making my shortlist of potential purchases). The compact 11" VAIO TX Notebook is at the center of this kit, featuring a 1366 x 768 widescreen LCD and weighing in at 2.8 lbs and 1" thick (.29" display). With 11 hours of battery life, the notebook gives you just enough juice for nocturnal missions. You also get a Cyber-shot DSC-T50 with the package, featuring 7.2 megapixels, ISO 1000, a 3" display, and a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. It's currently available for preorder, with a date of arrival scheduled for November 15. Via

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000

Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000

When Microsoft decides to become a player in your market, you best watch your 6 o’clock, and you can bet that’s what other input device manufacturers have been doing since the introduction of the Wireless Laser Desktop 6000. You’d expect tight Windows integration for the maker of the OS, but how do all the other intangibles measure up compared toe the competition? You might be surprised.

Motorola KRZR K1m

Motorola KRZR K1m

There's nothing necessarily wrong with the new good looking Motorola KRZR K1m which is available from Verizon for $199.99 w/ contract or $299.99 if you're simply upgrading. The problem is that there's nothing new about the K1m either. Motorola's iconic RAZR V3m offers similar technology and features as the KRZR and despite first-glance evidence to the contrary, is actually smaller and more convenient ergonomically for half the price. Ed. note: Cingular is due to make available its version of the KRZR, the K1c, at any moment. Pricing for the Cingular version was not available at press time.

Cups: measuring and numbered

measuring_cups.jpg

Maybe the fact that I am about to start baking a cake for my guests this evening has drawn my attention to these kitchen items while visiting some of my regular sites. Or maybe it’s just the fact that they are both quite cool.

The adjustable measuring cup is definitely a must-have. This scoop looking kitchen utensil has a sliding knob that lets you adjust the measuring compartment to the desired size. The small adjustable measuring cup can hold a maximum of 2 tablespoons of both dry and liquid ingredients and the bigger version a maximum of ½ cup. The appliance has an integrated magnet at the bottom which allows you to attach it to magnetic surfaces in the kitchen.

Available at the Moma Store for $33.00 (via SCI FI Tech).

number_cups.jpg

The Number Cups won’t help you measure any ingredients, but they sure will help you keep track of your cups. The handle of each cup is a different number from 1 to 9, making each cup unique within the same design style. The Number Cups will become quite handy during your next tea party, providing your guest with a reliable clue when trying to remember which one of the many cups on the table is theirs. The only shortcoming: you can only have 9 guests.

Portable Oxygen

OXYGEN%20%282%29.jpg

We heard from Brian about drinking oxygen, and Hoyun bravely sampled the oxygen bars.

Now, in Japan, you can buy "Portable Oxygen," available in a set of 5 cans. Claiming that we don't get enough oxygen every day, the company recommends it for sports, or simply when you're feeling tired.

It must be for all those people who keep forgetting to breathe.

Zoundz Interactive Music & Light Show

The Geeks don't know what to make out of the Zoundz Interactive Music and Light Show. The Zoundz is billed as an "interactive digital audio sculpture". By moving the seven pawn-like objects on the base different riffs are played and the seventh piece will even record any sound. In addition to playing sounds, the different sound-and-light hot spots display a rainbow of color.

I'm not sure what this gizmo's target is, perhaps babies for sensory enjoyment?

Make the TiVo S3 Remote Work Around Plasma TVs

TiVo Series3 Remote Fix Reprinted Courtesy of DVR Playground

Lightrunner came up with a better alternative to the "onion paper" hood as it just wasn't aesthetically pleasing.

I figured the IR sensor had to be right behind the face plate as with most A/V components, so I decided to take my S3 apart and see if I could shield it somehow without completely blocking it. Taking apart the S3 was very easy and the inside was very easy to work in.
